Be aware with Haiti relief scams PDF Print E-mail
  • Do not respond to unsolicited e-mails and be skeptical of messages on social-networking sites, espcially appeals for money from someone claiming to be a surviving victim or Haitian gov. official.  Be cautious of opening e-mails from unknown senders that have attachments labeled as disaster photos.  These files could contain viruses.

  • You can check whether a charity is registered with the state of Florida by calling 1-800-435-7352 or going to 800helpfla.com

  • If you think you have come in contact with a possible scam, call the Florida Attorney General's fraud hotline at 1-866-9-NO-SCAM (toll-free.)
