Here are some state, national and neighborhood organizations that you can contribute money or other donations for the Haiti earthquake relief effort:

The Salvation Army asks people who want to help those affected

by the earthquake in Haiti to visit salvationarmyusa.org or

call 1-800-SAL-ARMY (725-2769). Monetary donations are needed

to meet survivors' most immediate needs. You can also donate

such items as blankets, bottled water, flashlights, batteries,

clothing, shoes and generators to the local office, 416 W.

Gov. Charlie Crist activated "Neighbors to the Rescue," a fund

managed by the nonprofit Volunteer Florida Foundation with

grants made to long-term recovery organizations. Floridians who

want to contribute can visit FLADisasterRecoveryFund.org or

call 1-800-825-3786. Specify that donation is for the Neighbors

to the Rescue Haiti Fund.



For blood donors who give to Florida's Blood Centers (FBC)

through Monday, the organization will donate $1 to the American

Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. FBC is also donating more than

1,000 bottles of water to relief efforts. For information call

Pastor Linda Tice with Reeves United Methodist Church is also

collecting donations on behalf of the United Methodist

Committee on Relief (UMCOR.)  For more information about UMCOR
